Sustainability at Jenny Yoo

At Jenny Yoo, we believe thoughtful design extends beyond silhouette, fit, and craftsmanship. It also means considering how a gown is made. While sustainability is an ongoing journey, we are committed to making more responsible choices wherever possible—from the fabrics we source to the way our gowns are produced.

Sustainability at Jenny Yoo

Our Commitment to More Sustainable Bridal Design

At Jenny Yoo, we believe that thoughtful design goes beyond silhouettes, fit, and exceptional craftsmanship. Design consideration encompasses every stage of a garment's journey, from the initial sketch to the final stitch. This extends to creating pieces that are produced with greater awareness of their impact on the world around us. We recognize that sustainability is an ongoing process of learning, innovation, and improvement. As the fashion industry evolves, so does our commitment to making more responsible choices wherever possible. We approach this responsibility understanding that progress is built through thoughtful decisions.

From the fabrics we source to the partners we work with, we strive to prioritize materials and production practices that align with our values. This includes exploring lower-impact textiles, reducing unnecessary waste, and working closely with companies who share our commitment to quality, integrity, and responsible production. By creating gowns designed to be worn long after they are worn, it is proved that longevity can also be sustainability.

Eco-Conscious Fabrics in Our Bridal Collections

A key part of our sustainability efforts begins with the materials themselves. We actively prioritize eco-minded fabrics across our collections.

Crepe Bridal Gown

Our Italian Crepe, featured in the Jenny Yoo Collection, is produced with acetate sourced from recovered yarns rather than traditional cellulose. It also incorporates viscose fibers manufactured using processes designed to protect wood and forest resources.

Crepe Bridal Gown

Many styles within Jenny by Jenny Yoo feature our Luxe Stretch Crepe, which is produced with 50% recycled polyester fiber content, helping reduce the demand for virgin materials while maintaining the luxurious structure and drape brides love. Similarly, our Beveled Floral Jacquard incorporates recycled polyester fibers, blending sustainability with elevated texture and design.

Certified Materials and Responsible Fiber Sourcing

We are equally mindful of the safety and sourcing standards behind the textiles we use.

Our Gillian Printed Organza, featured in the Aveline and Hazel gowns, as well as the silk content in our Italian Taffeta used in styles like Danielle, Lombard, Colette, Celine, Antonia, and Sophia, utilize OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified silk yarns, meaning the textiles are tested to ensure they are safe for skin contact.

These carefully selected materials allow us to maintain the luxury and craftsmanship expected of bridal design while taking meaningful steps toward more responsible production.

Designed in New York with Waste Reduction in Mind

All Jenny Yoo gowns are designed in our New York City office. Keeping design and development close to home allows us to closely evaluate construction techniques, reduce fabric waste, and improve cutting efficiency during the production process.

Sustainability at Jenny Yoo

To further minimize waste, we partner monthly with FABSCRAP, a nonprofit dedicated to recycling and repurposing textile waste from the fashion industry.

Supporting the Next Generation of Fashion Makers

We regularly donate unused fabrics and trims to The Fashion Class, a New York–based fashion design school that introduces young students to the art of garment making. Designed for aspiring designers and young creatives the studio offers an inspiring environment that transforms sketches and ideas into tangible creations.

We also partner with Custom Collaborative, an organization that trains and mentors low-income and immigrant women pursuing careers in the fashion industry, helping to create pathways into sustainable fashion careers.
